To get to St Barts you have two main options, arrive by air at Gustaf III Airport (SBH) in St Barts, or anchor in the port of Gustavia. Whichever of the two options you choose, they are an adventure in themselves and well worth experiencing.
There is one detail you should know about getting to St Barts by Plane, Gustaf III Airport is one of the smallest airports in the world. The runway of the St Barts Airport is only 2,170 feet long, so it cannot accommodate aircraft for more than 20 passengers. There are no direct commercial flights from major cities in the United States or Europe, but you can find a private plane that meets the necessary characteristics to land at St Barts.
If a private plane is not an option for you, you have nothing to worry about, as there are very viable options to live the incredible experience of landing at Gustaf III.
The most popular option to get to St Barts if you are coming from America or Europe, is to make a stopover on our neighboring island of St Marteen. International flights to St Marteen can arrive at one of two airports on the island: Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) on the Dutch side or Saint Martin Grand Case (SFG) on the French side of St Maarten.
Once your flight has arrived in St Marteen, Winair and St Barths Commuter offer flights to St Barts, almost every 30 minutes. The flight from St Maarten to St Barts takes about 15 minutes. Besides these two options to fly to St Barts, in St Maarten it is relatively easy to get a charter flight, if you want to know more about this option, contact the Le Barth Villa Rental desk, and we will guide you on the best option for you.
At Le Barth Villa Rental we recommend you to plan your trip in advance and keep in mind that Gustaf III Airport only receives planes before sunset, so it is important that you check the arrival time of your flight to St Maarten and you can be sure that you can leave for St Barts the same day.
